I’m so stunned by the Cubs’ post-season implosion that I don’t really have the energy to be disappointed or heartbroken or all those other states with which Cubs fans are so famously intimate. The team that won the NL Central Division is not the same team that just went down in flames before the Dodgers. [...] Well, the Twins could have done it today in the AL Central tie-breaker. Coulda woulda shoulda. Held the stinky White Sox in check, sent them back to that part of Chicago where people eat whole bags of White Castle burger-lettes for dinner and call it a night out. Yuk. Terrible broadcasters, booooring AL baseball, a [...] I’m watching the mostly ceremonial game between the NL West Division champs, the Dodgers, and the Giants. Giants stadium was just host to its first instance of a disputed home run under the new playback rules recently instituted by MLB. This instance caused a 14-minute delay (an eternity even in baseball time) while everyone figured [...] Can you believe it? Baseball’s American League won their 5 millionth All-Star game, but this time both leagues dragged us through 15 innings of incredibly stifling ball play, resulting in a — wait for the exciting part — 4-3 win.
