My first terrarium

In less than 24 hours, I went from not even considering it to planning and building out a full terrarium. I don’t even remember what triggered it. A photo, some moment in a movie, something I saw out of the corner of my eye? I laid in bed this morning, surfing sites on the tablet, dozed off, and then awoke energised with  a mission for the day. Three stops: the home furnishing store for a glass vase; the pet store for supplies normally purchased for an aquarium; the plant store for everything else.

Total cost: $140

Total build time: 30 minutes

Between buying a bit too much of some supplies and having heaps of excess for the next terrarium, the overall cost for this specific terrarium was actually about $90. If you already have a large glass container and gather your own gravel and sand, you can shave another $40 bucks off the core cost, making this specific terrarium an outlay of about $50. That’s about the same cost (or slightly less) than if you were to buy a pre-built terrarium off the nursery floor.
